Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-06-25.
Pro Se Legal Docs ("ProseDocs", "we", "us") is operated by Stacklis (Jared C. Nott, sole proprietor). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use prosedocs.stacklis.com and how we use it.
What we collect
- Document inputs: the legal-case data you enter into the form (party names, addresses, case numbers, factual narratives, dollar amounts). This may include sensitive personal and legal information.
- Generated documents: the document produced from your inputs. It is stored securely for up to 24 hours so you can re-download it, after which it becomes inaccessible and is permanently deleted.
- Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We store your Stripe transaction ID for billing reconciliation; we never see your card details. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- Free-trial cookie: a single first-party httpOnly cookie (
prose_free_used) marks whether your browser has consumed the one-time free trial. - Technical data: server logs (IP, user-agent, request paths) retained for 30 days for security + debugging.
How we use it
- To generate the legal documents you requested.
- To process payments via Stripe.
- To detect and prevent abuse of the free-trial mechanism.
- We do not store, sell, or share your case data with third parties beyond what is necessary to operate the service.
AI processing
ProseDocs uses OpenAI's GPT-4o via the Vercel AI Gateway to generate document language from your inputs. Your inputs are sent to OpenAI under their commercial API terms — they are not used to train OpenAI's models. Vercel AI Gateway acts as a routing layer and does not retain request bodies beyond standard transient logging.
Third-party processors
- Vercel — hosting + edge + AI Gateway.
- OpenAI — GPT-4o generation (commercial API).
- Stripe — payments.
- Vercel Analytics — anonymized aggregate visit counts; no cross-site tracking.
Important legal disclaimer
ProseDocs is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We do not have an attorney-client relationship with you, and information submitted is not protected by attorney-client privilege. For consequential legal matters, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
Your rights
You may request export or deletion of any data we hold by contacting the support address on your Stripe receipt. Under GDPR / CCPA you have rights of access, correction, deletion, and portability — we honor these regardless of where you reside.
Retention
Your document inputs and the generated document are retained for up to 24 hours after creation so you can re-download your document. After 24 hours the document becomes inaccessible and its contents are permanently deleted from our database by an automated purge. After the purge we keep only a minimal billing record — transaction IDs, timestamps, and the general case type and jurisdiction (e.g. "small-claims, California") — and never your document, name, contact details, or case facts. Stripe transaction records are retained per Stripe's policy. Server logs are retained for 30 days.
Changes
We will post material changes to this policy at this URL. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
